Not all cybersecurity is real security. Many solutions create the appearance of protection, while leaving critical gaps exposed.

Throughout history, those who could not “dazzle with brilliance, baffled with "BS”. This is especially true in the field of security. Walls, weaponry, and alliances that were supposed to ensure peace and safety did not. They could not. Their designers and their proponents were more engaged in the appearance of security than in the creation of real security. This is known as “security theater”, and it is, today, unfortunately, rampant in the field of cybersecurity. Partial, or even ineffectual “solutions”, are being presented, in a panoply of technobabble and obfuscation, as the panacea against the scourge of cybercrime. But if true cybersecurity is to be achieved, these Maginot Lines of cyberspace must be perceived for what they really are, and truly effective strategies and solutions embraced
