Software supply chains are particularly vulnerable and provide a very convenient entrée for malware infections. By being embedded in an authorized, and possibly even digitally signed, software update, malware can elude almost all malware detection systems. Thus, ensuring the integrity of the software supply chain is of paramount importance in ensuring the integrity of all aspects of the cyber/information infrastructure.
